Interview Arthur Furrer, 18. Juli 2006

AF: Hello Peter, you seem to be dedicated to carry your music to Europe. Have you been in Europe and Switzerland in particular before?

PM: Well, I have been performing into Europe (France & Luxembourg) since 3 years now but never had the opportunity to perform in Switzerland! But I would sincerely love to!

AF: Are there plans to visit Europe again?

PM: Of course! I will be performing at the Billy Bob’s Saloon in Paris, at the Arizona Club and at the Four Corners Club in Germany. I will also perform in many other venues in Germany and France which will be determined within a week!

AF: Will you be taking your band along to Europe?

PM: Well, I have a great band that my Manager recruited in France who are following on my tours! They are great musicians and I get along with them so well! They play my stuff like an American Band do!

AF: Which musicians have influenced you most?

PM: Brian Setzer from the Stray Cats was my biggest influenced! But, many others did in their own ways such as Elvis, Travis Tritt and Garth Brooks!

AF: Which CD is in your CD player now?

PM: CCR’s (Creedance Clear Water) greatest hits!

AF: How would you characterise your music?

PM: I would say that my musical style can be compared to Pop Rock with a delicate touch of Country Folk & Rockabilly

AF: Do you write some of the songs yourself?

PM: Yes! I am an Author-Composer and Entertainer! I love writing lyrics and composing melodies!

AF: Tell me about your “Breaking The Rules” CD-project. Did you enjoy making a CD? Are you successful with it?

PM: The album “Breaking the Rules” has been done with many Canadian professional musicians and at many studios. The making was delightful! Everything was flowing naturally! The chemical was fantastic in between these guys and me! Each one of them brought his touch to make it sound like Peter Myles’s sounds! I had lot’s of good time recording it! If I had success with it? Well, for my part, It’s already a success on it’s own because it exist! Seriously, it really works good for me and it’s still going on good at this moment! The sales in Canada went over our expectations at the moment we are talking and are still going upward. About Europe, it’s going great! The Country Music lovers are getting to know me and the demand is increasing quickly!

AF: Is it your aim to once sign with a major label?

PM: It is always a pleasure to be sign by a major label. The opportunities are much bigger and your career could become tremendous. If it happens one day, I will let my manager deal with it! Loll Seriously, I have a complete trust in her skills and I am sure that she’ll take the best decision for my career.

AF: When did you decide to make a career in the music business?

PM: Well, I guess that was when I got to college! That’s really where it started! Before that, I gave little shows but nothing seriously! A friend of mine heard me humming a song, in a class room and decided to register me at a contest without my consent. Three days later, I was on the scene performing. I won the third place but got caught by the thrill of the big scene! It never stopped until then! I knew that was something I wanted to do forever!

AF: Do you also have country songs sung in French? Part of Switzerland would have no problem understanding French songs.

PM: Knowing that I was doing a lot of French festivals and to thank the audience for their support, I decided to offer a single album on which figures 3 French Country-Pop songs. By the way, I am glad to know that the French language is spoken in Switzerland. I am such in a hurry to perform in your Country!

If the audience of Switzerland wants to listen to some audio samples or simply buy the single, here is the link they have to click on : http://www.petermyles.com/disco_e.html It is my pleasure to thank them for their support!

AF: Will you be visiting Shania Twain when you come to Switzerland?

PM: I guess that if she invites me, I will surely stop by for a minute or two!

AF: If you could choose any stage in the world, which one you would love to play on most.

PM: Wow! Good question! I think that any stage that looks like a big playground would be fine! Loll

But I would enjoy to perform at The Montreal Bell Center where the big shows are displayed and also because it is my home place!

AF: What plans do you have for your career?

PM: I want to touch the heart of the most people with my songs by performing as long as I can! Furthermore, performing in Japan, Russia and other countries not recognized for the Country Music and recording an album with my daughter.

AF: What is your biggest success in your musical career so far?

PM: Success is relative! For someone, it could be the exposure that it brings! For someone else, it could be the achievement of hard work! For my part, I guess that being able to do what I like (music) the most, to meet great people, to travel into many beautiful countries and being able to do it with my family, I guess this is my biggest success yet and probably forever.
